Jordan Aviation continues with flights from Sarajevo airport in the winter period

To our great satisfaction, the Jordan Aviation airline, which started with charter flights this summer, will continue with operations from Amman to Sarajevo in the winter period as well.

This crucial development comes in the wake of successful negotiations that have been going on for months between Jordan Aviation and Sarajevo International Airport. This partnership, supported strongly by USAID’s Tourism project, the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton – Visit Sarajevo, the Foreign Trade Chamber of BIH, and representatives of local tour operators, along with the Association of travel agents in Jordan, led to the establishment of a regular charter line between Amman and Sarajevo. In the face of increasing demand, they have confirmed the continuation of these flights in the winter flight schedule for 2023.

The operation is an enormous step forward for both Jordan Aviation and Sarajevo Airport and speaks volumes about their commitment towards strengthening and developing tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Jordan Aviation responded to the public call when Sarajevo International Airport announced its intentions last year to set up a base, designed to connect the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina with European destinations and increase frequencies at the existing ones. Unfortunately, this has been hindered due to certain technical and administrative obstacles related to obtaining the necessary approvals regarding air freedom, and as of now, only charter flights have been set up.

The strategic intent of expanding the network of destinations to and from Sarajevo is a priority and they are intensively negotiating with numerous airlines, including Jordan Aviation, to boost traffic and introduce new stops to their routes.

Our strategic interest is to expand the network of destinations from/to Sarajevo, and we can confirm that we are intensively negotiating with a significant number of airlines, including Jordan Aviation, with the aim of increasing traffic and introducing new destinations. This is fueled by the support the Sarajevo Canton Government is offering through the adopted Program for subsidizing airlines. Clearly, this active involvement from the government further bolsters the belief that a successful outcome resulting in increased traffic and more destinations is on the horizon.
